Plaskett through her continuous campaign efforts has positioned herself on Committees in the US House of Representatives focused on advancing mechanism for economic development and American innovation
- Member of the powerful Transportation and Infrastructure Committee where Plaskett is focused on ports, highways and aviation. She is a thought leader on an Infrastructure Bank, modernization of infrastructure and complete federal funding to eliminate the digital divide - recognizing broadband as a 21st century necessary transportation mechanism.
- Member of the Agriculture Committee where she is keenly focused on the commodities subcommittee and crypto currency. Plaskett was the first black woman on the Blockchain Caucus – recognizing early the importance of the system for transparency, efficiencies in business and market entry for people of color.
- Chairs the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research which has oversight and authority over the agritech sector, specialty crops, organics, food security and research.
- Member of the Government Oversight Committee where her background as a former prosecutor has been used to ask probing pointed questions and hold Republican colleagues in check
- Member of the New Democratic Coalition which supports pro-growth, innovation and fiscally responsible policies. She chairs the Coalition’s Task Force on Infrastructure

- Co-Chair of the Caribbean Caucus and Rum Caucus and leads the Congressional Black Caucus House Floor time
- Regularly called on national media to communicate Democratic policy and media as well as issues of the territories
Plaskett is committed to supporting her constituents in the US Virgin Islands
- After the 2017 hurricanes ravaged the Virgin Islands, Plaskett leaned in allowing her home to turn tragedy to opportunity. She successfully advocated and secured an increase of disaster relief from Presidents Trump’s initial $43Billion to a $86Billion package. It contained set asides to allow the Virgin Islands to rebuilt with resilience and alternative energy
- Recognizing the disparity between the territories and the mainland, Plaskett fought and successfully brought equitable funding for Medicaid, Medicare Part D prescription, and SNAP to her people.
- She not only secured exponential increase in funding for roads and infrastructure but fought for streamlining the federal regulatory process. She worked to create formula parity in the Virgin Islands
- Committed to veterans she has fought for increased funding and services to veterans in the territory and sponsored the Hire-A-Hero Act giving small business that hire members of the Ready Reserve and National Guard tax credits.
